 Jamaican Patties
   

Ingredients

  • 200 g Flour
  • 200 g Butter or margerine, softened
  • 2 Tbs. Curry powder
  • Pinch Salt
  • 180 ml cold Water
  • Filling
  • 1/2 head Cabbage, finely sliced
  • 200 g grated cheese (Swiss)
  • 23Tbs Olive Oil
  • 2 -3Tbs Garam masala
  • 2 -3Tbs. Hot Curry Powder
  • Salt and Pepper


Description

  • Place the flour in a bowl with a pinch of salt and curry powder and cut the softened butter into it until there is a soft crumbly mixture. Stir in the cold water and mix to for a ball. Using a tablespoon full of dough form about 10 balls and roll into circles.
  • Preheat the oven to 325 F and oil a cookie sheet.
  • In a frying pan warm the olive oil and spices to mix well. Slice the cabbage very thinly and sauté. Cool and add the grated cheese.
  • In the center of each circle of dough, fill 2 or 3 teaspoons full of the cabbage/cheese mixture. Fold the circle in half and seal with a fork. You may want to brush the dough with oil for a glazed finish.
  • Place the pockets in the oven and bake for 15 min or until golden brown.
